In this page you could find important information that it will be a helpful resource for your literature class. The topic of this Webquest is Colombian Female Writers of the twentieth century. The aim is that your students identify the ideal woman in the twentieth century through the writings of some important Colombian writers of that time. The writers and their text that we chose are:

Marvel Moreno: Oriane Tía Oriane, Ciruelas para Tomasa, La Eterna Virgen.

 

All the text are in Spanish, because the little recognition of the authors in other countries, the texts of them have not been translated into English. All of this text have the ideal woman in the twentieth century, the representations and the place that they occupied in society. The texts represents an evolution of the woman in this era, from the religious ideal (the housewife, religious, mother, wife) to the new ideal, a representation of a female revolution, which gives new meaning to being female.

 

The task proposed to students’ permit that not only know the Colombian writers, but allows that they can know, understand and comprehend the social aspects of a country ideologically backward and sexist.
