Colombia's female writers of 20th century

 

Flor Romero de Nohora

Flor Romero, Colombian writer, was born in La Paz Calamoima (Cundinamarca - Colombia) on 05 March 1933. She studied primary education in the school of hers village and high school at the Colegio de Bogota Floréz Tovar. She has a degree in journalism from the Pontificia Universidad Javeriana.

 

She began her career in journalism as a reporter for El Espectator and is director of the children's page. In this public page stories for children. Her first Mythical tale was Llanto verde that was published in the newspaper El Tiempo in Bogota in 1950.

 

She works mythical stories gender since 1950 and since that date has published the following books in that genre: La Ruta del Dorado (Edit Circulo de Lectores de Bogotá, 1978); Los tiempos del Deslumbramientos (Edit. Testimonio Madrid - España 1986); El ombligo de la Luna y otros cuentos míticos mexicanos (Edit. Diana México 1989); Mitos Ritos y Leyendas contados por Flor Romero (Edit Plaza y Janés 1992); El día que Condoresa extravió su plumaje (Caja Agraria Bogotá 1998); El Mohán Enamorado y otros cuentos (Edit. Bolivariana - Medellín 1998); La cueva de los ocho encantamientos (Edit UNEDA 2000). 

Andrea descubriendo el mundo (Edit. UNEDA 2000). Anología del cuento mítico de América DOS MIL TRES LUNAS, trece volúmenes, con más de ciento veinte cuentos míticos. América cuenta sus mitos, editorial Planeta (2009); El amor es un mito, editorial Planeta (2012).

 

After working for eight years as a full time reporter in El Espectador newspaper, in 1960 she founded the magazine Woman which is directed by her until 1974. This magazine, new in its perspective, raises women's awareness of their role in society. Those were times of female vote and the contraceptive pill; gather the women's  

wonderings about joining politics and public life. It is a synthesis of what was the woman of that time and designs the profile of women in 2000.

 

She wrote his first novel 3 kilates y 8 puntos in 1962. The literary award presented to ESSO and is awarded in 1963. (Edit Andes 1964). His second novel, Mi Capitán Fabian Sicacha was a finalist at the Planet (Planeta Edit Barcelona 1967) prize in Spain.

 

"Triquitraques del trópico was a finalist for the Planeta of Spain Award and is published in 1972". (Edit Planet Spain) translated into French as crépitant Tropique by Antoine Berman is published by Albin Michel in Paris in 1978 in the collection of large translations and of representative works of UNESCO.

 

In 1974 Flor Romero travels to Paris with the position of First Counselor of the Embassy of Colombia in France, trade played for 8 years. He studied political science at the University of the Sorbonne. Between 1982 and 1986 he was head of public relations of the National Federation of Coffee Growers in Paris.

 

She is currently honorary president of Uneda lifetime, Union of Writers of America.

 

She has made radio and television.

 

Her works have been translated into several languages.

 

She is currently living in Bogota.
